In this guide, I will give you all the information I found inside the Hunting Zone code and data. Data coming from Terra Battle version 2.4.0. Character level influence First important thing: I never saw any indication that your characters level have an influence on Hunting Zone drops. I am sure that it have no influence when the drop items are chosen. There may have some hidden code in another place, but it is unlikely. I searched a lot, and never found something like that. The only influence of the indicated levels (1-19, 20-39, 40-69) is to adapt the monster levels: they will never go outside of the range. Bosses It is the same behaviour for all the different zones, no matter their type or their level: the boss have a 10% chance of appearance, and he will always drop 3 items: 2 basic items picked from the same table, and one advanced item. Not all bosses can loot all items. You can see the possible items for each boss later. Drop Tables Asides from the bosses, each monster have a fixed set of 1 to 3 items that can drop. Each item have an associated drop rate. It means that you can loot up to 3 items on the same monster. The drop rate in Hunting zone 3 is higher than zone 2, which is higher than zone 1. All data below. As you can see in the following tables, Puppet Time is a little special: the same kind of ennemy may appear several times in the table, with a different loot table. It means that the game handle them as if they are different monster types. This may be to ensure you will always have at least one drop per battle. Spoiler: Expected drop count How many of each item can you expect for one run, or if you spend 100 stamina? Those number are computed on average, hence the decimal. If you kill every monster, you have on average 3.5 monsters per stage, 5 stages per run. In Puppet time, I cannot know how many foe you will be able to kill. So the numbers are not so important: the most important are the difference between zone levels. For those numbers, I made the assumption that exactly 20 ennemies are killed per run. Change the numbers depending on your kill speed. As always, 10% Boss appearance is not taken into account. Each monster can drop a random item, and only one (the only exception being the boss, who have 2 items). Tear Hoarder have 100% chance to drop a Tear. The type of tear is chosen randomly (equal chance for each). All Bombers have 25% chance to drop only one item of the following pool (each item on the pool have an equal chance to be picked): Serenity Shoot, Wisdom Flower, Benevolent Fang, Tail of Insight, Claw of Fate, Pelt of Knowledge, Forlorn Stone, Shell of Madness, Terra Swordsteel, Terra Spearbronze, Terra Bowstring, Terra Staffwood, Fire Ring, Ice Ring, Lightning Ring, Dark Ring, White Ring, Green Ring The gormandizer boss have a 20% chance to appear. He always drop exactly two items: one random Tear, and one random Ore. Conclusion Some quick conclusions from all this data: If you need some specific items and can't kill all monsters, concentrate on the suitable target As always with random-based data: some will be lucky, and some extremely unlucky. Even with a 5% drop rate, you can never win an Animaton from the last 100 killed Teddy Pudding! The drop rate increase for some items (Ores) is low, lower than the stamina increase. You will win less Ore per stamina in zone 3 than in zone 1, but more rings, and it will take less time to farm. It's up to you to decide which hunting zone is better for you. Read carefully the charts: Forlorn Stone for instance seems to have a much higher drop rate in zone 1 and 2 than in zone 3 (it may be a bug or an error from my side, but I checked twice, and it seems this is correct) Some items never drop in zone 1 (asides from bosses, of course): Tail of Insight, Wisdom Flower, Particles, ... Pesky teddy puddings always running away So for boss drops, no indication how the loots are picked and we assume it's random right?
>> Runny PuddingOxsecium4%5%7% Sigh... like we didn't have more than enough oxsecium already from all the oxsecians in the game...
Yes. I write for a boss "1 item picked from", in fact, each item in the list have an equal chance to pe picked. It's only pure random.
For those interrested, here is some data about Gormandizer Hunt: Tears (I do not put it in the initial post as I need to do more work on this specific event data, but it will probably not be before the event end. So I give you some hints before the end). I am really not sure about this one, because I never started thin dungeon, so all my knowledge comes from the data and the wiki. There is data about 3 sections, and other Hoarders (Particle Hoarder, and Rarity Hoarder, without any drop rate for those two), I will give you only the data from the first section, which seems to be the only one available. Boss have 20% chance to appear (all "normal" hunting zones have only 10%) Tear Hoarder will always drop one random Tear (equal chance for each one) Boss (Gormandizer) will always drop 2 items: one random Tear Tear and one random Ore (equal chance for each one) All Bombers have 25% chance or dropping one of the following items (equal chance for each one): Serenity Shoot Wisdom Flower Benevolent Fang Tail of Insight Claw of Fate Pelt of Knowledge Forlorn Stone Shell of Madness Terra Swordsteel Terra Spearbronze Terra Bowstring Terra Staffwood Fire Ring Ice Ring Lightning Ring Dark Ring White Ring Green Ring
Thank you, it's a great work. 10% chance of appearence for the bosses, I understand why I never seen the pudding boss in HZ2.
If it's a 10% chance to spawn a boss across all hunting zones, for generic ores, it's much better to do PT1, and for particles it's best to do TP2. I haven't done pudding time in a while, so I forget how many puddings spawn, but for TP2 and TP3, it's definitely 12 enemies per battle times 3 battles. And if the king spawns, it's King + 5 enemies for battle 3. Expected value of Ores/stamina and particles/stamina are highest for those zones. For PS, since all characters require an equal number of tier 1 race and tier 2 race materials, it's best to do PS2, unless you have an imbalance from farming other things. Technically you get more items from PS3, but PS3 costs 5 more stamina. It's a bit hard to assess the value of PS1, since it's hard to figure out the spawn ratio of the puppets.
So it means that if you are looking for particles only, you should better aim for Hunting Zone 2 during Tin Parade, same for Ores only and Pudding Time. However, it also means Green Ring is possibly the hardest item to get as you would need 150 and it only drops for one mob in the whole game, 2 counting Pounding boss, and 3 with Gormandizer bomber with a very low chance... I think MW should fix this. Very enlightening nonetheless. Edit: In fact, it is even better to do Hunting Zone 1 for Ores if you don't need the rings.
Just updated the guide with spawing rules for each zone (when the boss is not here). The tl;dr version is: there is no monster number difference if you do hunting zones 1, 2 or 3.
Updated the op. I added the computed expected drop count if you kill every single ennemy. For Puppet time, as there is no fixed foe number, I made the (false) assumption that 20 ennemies are killed each time. The real number does not matter: the difference of expected drop between two hunting zone levels matters much more. The result are interesting: if the item drops in a zone (so not for particles in zone 1), you will have more Ore/Tears/Particles per stamina in lower zones, but more basic items per stamina in higher zones. Of course, in zone 1 you need 10 runs with a full 100 stamina, and only 5 runs in zone 3, but if you have the time, you can expect more Ores from zone 1 in the end.
I'm still surprised, that to get 15 green rings... it takes about 100 stamina. I wish there were other methods (besides Bahamut/Leviathan) where we have a decent shot at getting green rings.
Bahamut/Leviathan drop a green ring only 1/8 of the time. So if you want 15 Green Rings only from those dragons, you have to do Bahamut Descended 120 times (1800 stamina): I do not thing this can be called a method to have green rings . The biggest issue for those green rings is not the 100 stamina/15 rings, but the fact that you have to wait for pudding time event, without real way of having them the rest of the time. Aside from Boss items, I do not think there is another item that cannot be farmed when you want. Maybe it is not the expected behaviour and it will be fixed on a later patch
For a long time, I tried to figure out why you guys were fixated on green rings. After 10 posts, I realized that they might not be obtainable through normal dungeons, but only through hunting zone. Finally checked the data, could not believe it. Luckily, there are currently only 10 cards that require green ring for their jobs. This means that you need only 150 of them. I also had a relief when I realized that I already have 61 of them, too many Pudding time in the past
I should do some math to figure out if it's better to farm Pudding Time 1, and hope for more ores, so I have to run less 15-6/20-1, or aim for Pudding Time 2, and hope for a bit worse on ores, but save stamina on spending it on green rings. And farming Orichalcum sucks.
