The Infamous Sun King

    After farming Moon King otomos, and leveling them i went on a journey to the Sun :

    I did this Team to test out things :

    Olber^ with Edglow staff
    Shinen^ with MoonZ
    Invincible^ with MoonZ
    Annu with MoonZ
    Gego^with MoonS
    Amina^with MoonS

    First of all there is 3 battle, meaning you can start build capsules (from Olber^),CT (from Gego^) on regular adds during the first two ones.

    Then battle 3 start, you get to play first then SUn king start his Pattern :

    - 4x6 grid
    - 2 Rows
    - 2 Columns + reinforcement

    At 80% and 50% hp he'll charge his scorch 3, you have 1 turn to set up so you don't have to move alot next turn.
    During the scorhed turn (yeah last only 1 turn, phew ...) do not swap scorched units, or you mover will tkae heavy damade (you may be able to swap once but rarely more)

    Try to always Pincer boss according to his next move, killing as many adds as you can, but there is one that will kill itself on its turn to transform in a time trap : that's why shinen is usefull with his native disarm.

    At 60% and 40 % Hp he will charge his Sun all attack : that's where i usually loose, but tharos pointed out that dealing 200K moon damage could disrupt the sun all attack : that will be for my next try.

    So, the Sun King

    Stats and skills:

    (All the following was retrieved quickly, thus needs confirmation, and maybe some corrections)

    HP Threshold values are: 85%, 65%, 50%, 30%, 15%

    He charges some attacks at HP thresholds:
    • 85% -> Attack 1
    • 65% -> Attack 2
    • 50% -> Attack 1
    • 30% -> Attack 2
    • 15% -> Attack 3
    Details of the attacks here:

    Attack 1: "The scorching flames rise..."
    85% and 50% HP
    Launch Scorch - Random(3)

    Attack 2: "Preparing for lunar energy..."
    65% and 30% HP
    Resistance dispelled first. A moon damage counter is initialized: do 200k Moon damage during the charge to get a Scorch All. If you fail, you will get the "Sunlight Sphere!!!" skill (x6 Sun and x6 Physical damage)

    Attack 3: "A lonely wail rings out..."
    15% HP
    Seems to be the "small" Sunlight Sphere skill, targetted to All

    Jesus,... that Attack 2 phase... :jawdrop:

    So, in order to survive, you would have to first stockpile some anti-solar capsules and a power-point beforehand.
    Then, after resistance was dispelled, you have to line up those capsules to get some anti-solar resistance up, and do at least 200,000 moon damage to avoid 1-hit kill.
    Then the next turn will be a free turn for enemies ?, because, unless your units have Scorch Guard/Ward, you can't switch any unit for 1 turn since everyone was hit with Scorch (All).

    This boss definitely is undefeatable without Feno.

    Anyway, does anyone know how much damage can Scorch do? Wiki says it does HP% damage but does not specify how many %.

    Scorch is 50% HP as damage when swapping units.
    Scorched units do not hurt themselves, but the other swapping with them.

    If the mover is scorched, he will hurt all swapped units by 50% of their HP.
    If a non-mover is scorched, he will hurt the mover by 50% of his HP.
    Of course, if both are scorched, both will lose 50% of HP

    So be careful:
    - your scorched mover can hurt everyone
    - your safe mover can be hurt by every scorched units

    Last things to know about scorch immunity: it seem to only prevent the status, not the damage.
    An immune character swapped by a scorched character will be hurt.

    So does that mean the mover would never die? Makes sense since I have never had anyone die yet :woot:

    I hope not... a boss you can only beat with one and only Z class is pretty unfair to the vast majority of gamers...

    hard to die, but not never. if HP1 mover gets scorched damage, it will die
    because 1/2 is rouded up to 1 damage.

    Of course not :p Almost beat it with team with single digit SB. At around 50Sb should be doable :cigar:

    So.... Why did MW even give us Moon king companions if the fight was going to be undoable without the moon characters anyway?

    Maybe he's also vulnerable to physical damage?

    If so then a physical strat would revolve around giving everyone sun block (lol) and bringing Olber and/or high physical damage resistance to tank those big hits.

    Just so you guys know in theory Sun King is beatable without the three moon units however I view the fight itself to be more difficult than the Mutoh ideal corner pincer setup since it requires good play skill, Mutoh, and 2 or 3 magic tapper.

    Basically on top of having the units, you would also require the mobs to be friendly every single turn. If you can't kill the mobs fast enough, they will take over the map and you won't be able to pincer.

    So... Just gave it a round with a pure physical team fit for the moon king. Physical damage is definitely reduced to 20% or less

    Senala ^ and Mizell ^ , two of the best mages in the game, with stellar magic stat ( more than 600) deal only 4000 to the adds with a full moon, the strongest moon attack.... i mean WTF???? It s not even the fourth of their HP...
    MW we ve been asking for events where we can use our strong, hard earned characters, and instead you create a fight one can only win with new characters that most dont have..... thats bull@€&#....

    Yes, Sun King have the lvl 99 Moon King damage reductions: takes only 10% of all damage sources but Moon.
    Oh, one slight variation: takes 10% from fire damage, whereas moon king takes 0 damage from ice

    Molten Blade uses the same damage reduction.
    Molten Chakram have a single variation: 75% physical damage instead of 10%

    2 snaip o2
    2 lunacy shield v2
    1 sun king Z
    And depressingly 2 mm^ from 100l
    Nothing noteworthy from 80l.
    This is going to be one long grind!
